When the founders of Snapguide approached me in 2012, I recognized the potential for a disruptive reinterpretation of what it means to publish a how-to guide on the internet. At the time, Instructables was the only site that attempt to make it easier to publish what you know to the internet. I did comparative and competitive research, user research, and built a perspective around who would use the app. I iterated heavily on guide creation flows, ultimately using a card metaphor for steps in a process. Snapguide launched as Apple’s iPhone app of the Week and has grown into a thriving social community with millions of users.
